  1. I haven’t been to Nessebar in years, unfortunately, but I love the old town. And I love that these ancient church remains are so much of people’s lives there. It’s wonderful to see small children in the pale gray stone and red brick remains of the 5th century Church of Saint Sofia (your first image), kicking balls where once there was a multi-doored iconostasis , running around where there was once the pew-less nave common to the Eastern Church, and calling to each other within the surviving walls and on the plaza in front. Thanks for the beautiful photos.
